Information from third parties
We may receive information from payment processors, email providers, analytics providers, authentication services, referral partners, social platforms, and other service providers, subject to their terms and your settings.
2. How we use information
We may use personal information to:
- Provide and operate the Service.
- Create and secure accounts.
- Deliver newsletters and paid content.
- Process payments, renewals, refunds, and cancellations.
- Send transactional, security, billing, and policy notices.
- Send marketing communications where permitted.
- Personalize basic content and measure engagement.
- Respond to support, feedback, and correction requests.
- Detect fraud, abuse, security incidents, and account sharing.

We will not use personal information for materially different purposes without appropriate notice or consent where required.
3. How we disclose information
We may disclose personal information to:
- Service providers: such as Stripe (payments), Resend (email delivery and email-based sign-in), Vercel (hosting), and PostHog (analytics).
- Professional advisers: lawyers, accountants, auditors, insurers, and compliance consultants.
- Authorities or other parties: when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights and safety, investigate fraud, or respond to valid legal process.
- Business-transfer parties: in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets.
- At your direction: when you request or consent to a disclosure.
We do not disclose full payment-card information because it is processed by the payment provider.
Sale or sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising
We do not sell personal information for money and do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under applicable California law.
5. Email communications
You may unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in the email or account preferences. We may continue to send transactional messages necessary to administer an account or subscription, such as receipts, security alerts, renewal notices, and cancellation confirmations.
Unsubscribing from marketing email does not cancel a paid subscription.
6. Data retention
We retain information for the period reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain business and consent records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, meet tax and accounting obligations, and comply with law.
Current operating target: subscriber and account records for as long as your subscription is active and up to 24 months after it ends or you unsubscribe (except a minimal suppression record kept to honor opt-outs); billing, consent, and tax records for up to 7 years where required; analytics events for up to 12 months. Different categories may be retained for different periods. We may retain deidentified or aggregated information where permitted.
7. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Use a unique password and notify hello@thefridayfive.org if you suspect unauthorized access.
8. Your choices and rights
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, or information about use and disclosure; to opt out of certain sales, sharing, targeted advertising, or profiling; to limit certain uses of sensitive information; and to appeal a denied request.
To submit a request, email hello@thefridayfive.org with the subject Privacy Request. We may need to verify your identity. Authorized agents may submit requests where permitted by law.
We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights.
9. California notice
This section applies only when The Friday Five is subject to the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended, and to the extent a California resident's information is covered.
In the preceding 12 months, we may have collected the categories described in Section 1 for the purposes described in Section 2 and disclosed them to the categories of recipients described in Section 3.
California residents may have rights to know, delete, correct, opt out of sale or sharing, limit certain uses of sensitive personal information, and receive equal service. The applicability of each right depends on the law and our data practices.
Requests: hello@thefridayfive.org
Because we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, no Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link is currently required.
Global Privacy Control: because no advertising or sale of personal information occurs, there is no cross-context advertising signal to honor. This will be revisited if advertising technology is ever added.
10. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact hello@thefridayfive.org if you believe a child has provided information so we can review and take appropriate action.
11. International users
The Friday Five is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from another country, information may be processed in the United States and other locations where providers operate. Where required, we will use appropriate transfer and processing mechanisms.
12. Third-party links
This policy does not govern third-party websites, brokers, social networks, advertisers, or services. Review their privacy policies before providing information.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will revise the "Last updated" date and provide additional notice of material changes where required.
