The Friday Five may earn revenue from advertising, sponsorships, affiliate links, referrals, partnerships, or other commercial relationships. This page explains how those relationships are disclosed.
1. Affiliate links
Some links may be affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, open an account, or complete another qualifying action, The Friday Five may receive compensation at no additional cost to you, unless otherwise stated.
Affiliate compensation does not guarantee a favorable review, ranking, or recommendation. Products and services should be evaluated independently for your needs.
Recommended inline label:
Affiliate disclosure: The Friday Five may earn a commission if you use this link.
2. Sponsored content
Paid content will be labeled clearly and prominently with terms such as:
- Sponsored
- Advertisement
- Paid partnership with [SPONSOR]
The disclosure should appear near the title or before the sponsored claims, not solely in a footer or separate legal page.
3. Free products, access, travel, or services
A material non-cash benefit, such as free software access, event admission, travel, data, research tools, or products, will be disclosed when it could affect how readers evaluate the content.
Recommended label:
Material connection: [COMPANY] provided [FREE ACCESS / PRODUCT / TRAVEL / SERVICE] for evaluation.
4. Securities and issuer-related compensation
The Friday Five does not accept undisclosed compensation to promote a security.
Any content paid for by a public company, issuer, shareholder, promoter, investor-relations firm, or person with an economic interest in a security requires legal and compliance review before publication. The disclosure may need to identify the payer, nature, source, and amount or material terms of compensation.
Recommended conservative policy:
The Friday Five does not publish issuer-paid stock promotions.
If the business later changes this policy, obtain securities counsel and revise this page before accepting payment.
5. Publisher and contributor positions
The Friday Five, its owners, employees, contractors, contributors, or affiliates may hold or trade securities discussed. When known and material, the relevant article should disclose:
- Whether the author or publisher has a long, short, option, or other economic position.
- Whether the position existed at publication.
- Whether the publisher has a business relationship with the company.
- Whether compensation was received relating to the content.
Suggested article disclosure:
Position disclosure: At publication, [THE AUTHOR / THE FRIDAY FIVE] [HELD / DID NOT HOLD] [SHARES / OPTIONS / OTHER INTEREST] in [TICKER]. Positions may change without notice.
6. Editorial control
Unless a piece is expressly labeled sponsored, commercial partners do not receive the right to dictate our conclusions. Sponsored content may be reviewed for factual statements about the sponsor, but sponsorship should not be presented as independent editorial analysis.
7. Questions
